Zeng Pingliang, male, Ph.D., National Specially Appointed Expert, Zhejiang Specially Appointed Expert, Professor and Doctoral Director of Hangzhou University of Electronic Science and Technology, IET Fellow, Senior Member of IEEE, Convenor of IEC TC122 WG1 (2015-2017). expert member of IEC TC122 WG1 and IEC TC8 JWG10 and JWG12, IEC 1906 International Standard Contribution Award and winner of the 7th China Overseas Chinese Contribution Award.


He graduated from Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) in 1984 and studied abroad at Strathclyde University (UK) in 1985 for his Ph.D. After receiving his Ph.D. in 1990, he joined National Grid Company (UK). He worked as Senior Engineer, Senior Business Analyst, Manager of System Operation Incentive Mechanism and Strategy Department, Manager of UK Transmission Grid Design Department, etc. In 2011, he was selected for the National Plan for the Introduction of Overseas High-Level Talents (the sixth batch), and returned to China full-time in 2012, joining the China Electric Power Research Institute (CEPRI) as the Chief Specialist for Power System Analysis and Planning, and joining the Hangzhou University of Electronic Science and Technology (HZUET) in 2017. After returning to China, he has undertaken and participated in more than 10 scientific and technological projects of national level and State Grid Corporation, including the "Thousand Talents Programme" special support project, four key projects of National Natural Fund (including two project leaders), the national "863" project (project leader), and the national "One Country, Two Systems" project (project leader). He has published two monographs and published papers. He has published 2 monographs and more than 130 papers, including more than 90 SCI/EI papers. He has been awarded four provincial and ministerial-level scientific and technological progress awards, one international standard contribution award IEC1906 award, and one China Overseas Chinese Federation "All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese Seventh Overseas Chinese Contribution Award".


His main research interests include power system analysis and planning, renewable energy grid integration, electric vehicle access, power system reliability, large-scale energy storage applications, distributed power supply, load-side response, and integrated energy systems.
